About
The Washington DC Committee on Architecture for Education gathers a broad range of stakeholders (designers, builders, learners, educators, administrators, and the public) interested in the design of great educational environments. Together, we provide forum that is dedicated to:
- promoting the importance of educational architecture,
- acknowledging how schools contribute to resilient communities,
- learning from our region's many success stories,
- sharing innovative ideas and educational design best practices, and
- celebrating our collective commitment to creating great educational facilities, such as K-12 schools, Higher Ed, and libraries.
Goals
- Where possible, we will target HSW credits with our 2025 Events.
- Add a second "signature event" to our yearly Agenda. We are working to annually hold an event in the spring that is focused on Higher Ed.
- Continue work in partnership with neighboring AIA CAE groups in Baltimore and Norther Virginia, hosting joint events.
- Plan to hold collaborative discussions with the local CAE's from distant states.
- Intend to continue updating and expanding our committee contacts mailing list; and to recruit new members to participate in the committee and diversify the firm representation and non architect membership.
- Develop and publish a Year in Review annual report (a 2-3 page letter that describes our committee's past events - and our goals for the coming year).
