About

AIA|DC ACEL (Architects Creating, Coaching and Empowering Leaders) provides leadership training for 
architects in the middle of their careers. The committee vision aligns with the overall AIA|DC chapter goal 
to make mentorship a key benefit of AIA memberships. We encourage practicing architects to overcome 
career plateaus by offering content that accelerates individual leadership training, expands traditional firm 
based roles, and encourages discussion on topics that are changing the profession.


The vision of the committee is to accelerate opportunities for leadership and mentorship for architects 
in the middle of their careers.

Goals

ACEL has three primary goals:

  • Create leadership training and mentorship opportunities that might not be available within the 
    traditional firm structure to empower architects to further develop their skills and expand their 
    resources.
  • Curate the DAC Leadership Series that is based on current trends and chapter driven requested 
    content for our audience of mid-career architects.
  • Host bi-annual 360 Mentoring Events in partnership with other local AIA chapters and 
    committees to help facilitate opportunities to find a mentor.
Meetings & Events

Monthly meetings occur at 4:30pm on the 4th Tuesday of the month and are 30 minutes in length.
