Architecture in the Schools
Energize your students with innovative STEM projects! Architecture in the Schools (AIS) brings professional architecture teams to Washington DC classrooms for one hour per week for eight weeks. The program is free and resource kits are provided. AIS teams have taught more than 20,000 DCPS students from K-12 since 1992. We would love to bring the program to your classroom!
Benefits of the Architecture in the Schools program:
• Students are engaged and energized! The program increases THINKING skills, CREATIVITY, and TEAM-WORK.
• Students relate STEAM skills to real-life, and they see why math is important.
• AIS promotes communication and presentation skills. Students increase self-confidence.
• Students learn about the incredible city of Washington DC and gain appreciation for their own neighborhoods.
• Architecture in the Schools is a flexible program that works within the curriculum.
• Classroom teachers learn new teaching strategies.
The program ends with an exhibit of projects and a reception for students, their families and teachers at District Architecture Center.
