Overview:
Mitigating risk is an essential component in the planning and construction of a successful project. Meaningful design changes, an understanding of environmental risks, and code impacts not only save cost but help mitigate risk. While some risks are assumed, advance planning and strategy in the preconstruction phase help prepare when unforeseen circumstances arise. Learn from experts across ownership, design, and construction as they explore past projects with key lessons learned, predict the future impacts of DC energy code and how they are working together right now to mitigate risk for the mixed-used project in Buzzard Point, Parcel B at Audi Field.
Learning Objectives:
- Define different types of risk in your project. From the perspective of the owner, architect and contractor.
- Identify strategies for mitigating risk for owners, architects and contractors, architects, contractors.
- Understanding how the evolution of the DC energy code is shaping the design and construction process.
- Gain an understanding of how pushing past old ideas and using preconstruction and design build help to mitigate risk.
