Join LA.IDEA for a guided construction tour of a new multifamily project at 1522 Rhode Island Avenue NE, Washington DC, led by Emotive Architecture and JAP Construction. The one‑hour walkthrough will explore design and construction coordination for a five‑story apartment building with a penthouse, highlighting topics such as life‑safety, envelope performance, ADA compliance, and building systems. This event is intended to qualify for LU credit and offers valuable insight into collaboration between architect and contractor during active construction.
Learning objectives:
1. Be able to identify key life‑safety features in multifamily construction, including fire‑rated assemblies, egress paths, and emergency systems, and understand how these elements protect occupant safety during both normal use and emergency.
2. Gain insight into mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) coordination within an active construction site, with a focus on how system integration supports indoor air quality, thermal comfort, and code compliance.
3. Participants will observe architect–contractor collaboration during construction and understand how communication, sequencing, and quality‑control practices reduce risk, ensure code compliance, and support safe project delivery.
