The Washington Architectural Foundation Board has asked for a new logo design and brand identity
system. The design competition will take place February 1 – 28, 2021. The designer of the winning
submission will receive $500 and a lifetime DAC membership.
Members of AIA|DC, including affiliates, as well as DAC member and members of the general public
are welcome to participate.

Submission Requirements:
- Logo Design
- Must include “WAF”
- Must include a recognizable element of DC Architecture
- Vertical Lock‐up1
- Horizontal Lock‐up
- Full‐Color Version
- White Version
- Greyscale Version
- Color Palette Direction
- Palette should include primary, secondary and supporting swatches. Please include a minimum of three color swatches in the palette.
- This will be the brand color palette, not just the logo palette.
- Typography
- Primary Font with associated usage rules
- Secondary Font with associated usage rules
- Fonts should be open source
- Design Family
- The design of the WAF logo should be compatible with other logos used for AIA|DC and the District Architecture Center, which are shown below

1 A lock-up is the final form of a logo with all of it's elements locked in their relative positions. For the sake of
maintaining consistency in all mediums, the lock-up should not be taken apart or altered in any way. A
good lock-up will create a sense of cohesion between the elements.
