The Washington Architectural Foundation Board  has asked for a new logo design and brand identity
system. The design competition will take place February 1 – 28, 2021.  The designer of the winning
submission will receive $500 and a lifetime DAC membership.  

Members of AIA|DC, including affiliates, as well as DAC member and members of the general public
are welcome to participate.

Submission Requirements:

  • Logo Design
    • Must include “WAF”
    • Must include a recognizable element of DC Architecture
    • Vertical Lock‐up1
    • Horizontal Lock‐up
    • Full‐Color Version
    • White Version
    • Greyscale Version
  • Color Palette Direction
    • Palette should include primary, secondary and supporting swatches. Please include a minimum of three color swatches in the palette.   
    • This will be the brand color palette, not just the logo palette.   
  • Typography
    • Primary Font with associated usage rules
    • Secondary Font with associated usage rules
    • Fonts should be open source
  • Design Family
    • The design of the WAF logo should be compatible with other logos used  for AIA|DC and the District Architecture Center, which are shown below

Deadline:

  • Not later than 11:59 pm on Sunday, February 28, 2021

1 A lock-up is the final form of a logo with all of it's elements locked in their relative positions. For the sake of
maintaining consistency in all mediums, the lock-up should not be taken apart or altered in any way. A
good lock-up will create a sense of cohesion between the elements.
